Quizzing for monkey rehabilitation funds
The North Coast has a strong population of monkeys, which need help from Monkey Helpline or likeminded groups once they are injured or caught in snares.
Almost 100 North Coasters had their brains picked for a good cause at the Monkey Helpline quiz fundraiser last Thursday.
Held at Siggi’s German Restaurant and Pub, the event raised R10 000 for the organisation which is looking to build a new monkey sanctuary on the North Coast.
The aptly named ‘Banana Bunch’ team shared the spoils with ‘Gigolos’ and both teams took home fantastic prizes from dinner vouchers to drink and snack hampers.
This aside from those who bought beautiful donated art pieces on auction.
Earlier this year, Monkey Helpline were forced to look for new premises once land grabs became a pressing issue near their Camperdown home base.
The organisation is currently fundraising R7-million to build a sanctuary at Shongweni, where they can accommodate monkeys in need.
