2023 Miss Ballito set to be crowned

Only one of eight finalists will be able to walk away with the coveted title of Miss Ballito at the crowning evening, set to be held this September 21 at Collisheen Estate.

It has been an exciting journey for the eight finalists who have embarked on several community projects since the pageant kicked-off earlier this year.

Coordinator, Heidie Smith said Miss Ballito, a fundraising initiative of Rotary Zimbali, has raised over R865 000 since its inception in 2011.

These funds are put to good use by supporting several approved charities.

Miss Ballito is no mere beauty contest, and aims to upskill finalists through months of workshops.

Those who enter emerge as confident women ready to make a difference in their communities.

“We seek out young ladies with a heart for community and a burning desire to help others make a difference. This pageant is very much about inner beauty and empowering our youth,” said Smith.

One of the projects supported by the initiative includes BriteEyes, a cataract surgery camp held in Maphumulo in partnership with the iLembe Health Department.

So far, through their efforts, a total of 1 004 cataract surgeries have been performed.

Back to this year’s crowning event, which is set to be a formal black tie event.

This year’s finalists include Shaye Caldicott, Kayla Cleminshaw, Chloe Craig, Beth Green, Lindiwe Khumalo, Fikile Ndunakazi, Phindile Nxumalo and Hanè van der Merwe.

The event is set to run from 6pm, with tickets priced at R600.

This includes a three-course meal and entertainment on the evening.
