Vehicle ploughs into pedestrians in Isithebe, killing two

The driver was arrested at the scene.

Two people died and three were injured when a car crashed into pedestrians in Isithebe, Mandeni earlier today.

According to IPSS Security operations manager, Phumlani Vezi, the accident happened near the Ikhwezi Supermarket.

The car was travelling from Mandeni to Isithebe when it lost control and hit five pedestrians.

Two of them, a 28-year-old male and a 23-year-old female, were pronounced dead at the scene.

One woman was taken to the hospital in a critical condition, while a male and a female suffered injuries but were in a stable condition.

The driver was arrested at the scene and the police are investigating the cause of the accident.

One person died in a head-on collision on the R102 near the KwaDukuza police station.

In another accident, a man died in a head-on collision on R102 near the KwaDukuza police station last night.

The driver of the second vehicle was injured and trapped inside the wreckage, requiring assistance from the Kwadukuza Fire Department to extricate him.
