One dead, two injured in N2 head-on collision near Ballito

The right hand lanes of both the N2 south- and north-bound are closed and are expected to be affected for a few hours while services are on scene.

A man in his twenties died this morning after the bakkie he was driving collided with a truck on the N2 between Ballito and Chaka’s Rock.

The two occupants of the truck were also seriously injured in the accident, which occurred just before 9am, and were stabilised before being transported to nearby hospitals.

Further details on the cause of the accident are currently unclear and will be subject to police investigation.

“The right hand lanes of both the N2 south- and north-bound remain affected to allow services to continue their work on scene,” said IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Samantha Meyrick.

“We expect traffic to be backlogged for the next several hours.”

Motorists are urged to make use of alternative routes until the scene has cleared.

The collision saw both the truck and bakkie end up in the centre median.
