Dolphin Coast Striders runners sharpen their blades ahead of Comrades Marathon

All-time record holder Barry Holland gave insights to runners who will be running their first Comrades.

The Dolphin Coast Striders completed their annual chairman’s run on Saturday – the last training event before the upcoming Comrades Marathon.

More than 100 runners took on the 10km route between Ballito and Salt Rock, led by chairman Mike Morgan on a scooter, who kept the vibes high with music and shouts of motivation.

Perhaps more critical however, was the post-run information session with Comrades all-time record holder and Ballito resident, Barry Holland.

Barry is quite literally the best possible person to hear from before the race and his insight was appreciated by the runners, particularly those who will be running their first Comrades.

As for Barry himself, its all systems go for the magic number 50 this weekend, a target he has been chasing since 1972.

Although it is an up run and runners will finish in Pietermaritzburg, your local Striders runners would no doubt appreciate messages of support or cheering at the start line on Sunday morning.
