Willard beach closed after sewage spill

The municipality says the beach will reopen once water safety tests give the all clear.

Ballito’s Willard Beach has been temporarily closed for bathing following a sewer overflow this morning.

The beach will remain closed as a precautionary measure until water safety tests give the all clear.

KwaDukuza Municipality’s municipal manager, Nhlanhla Mdakane, said the decision was made to prevent contamination from spreading and to safeguard surrounding areas.

”Our teams are actively addressing the issue as a priority and will provide further updates,” said Mdakane.
