Brettenwood donation helps young women take control of their periods
Menstrual products were handed over to Sizani Combined School pupils in conjunction with The Red Movement.
A recent Brettenwood Coastal Estate women’s event raised R6 000 to help young women take control of their periods.
Hosted at the estate’s Woodlands Café, the fundraiser saw an outpouring of support from the attending women, with all funds going towards the Red Movement.

The Red Movement is a local non-profit that seeks to end period poverty, by partnering with low-income schools and donating essential sanitary ware to the pupils. Without adequate menstrual products, young women are often kept from attending school, which can have a long-term negative effect on their quality of education.

The Red Movement partners with schools across the North Coast and KwaZulu-Natal, but Brettenwood’s donation went to Sizani Combined School in Foxhill. Essential products were handed over to the grateful pupils on Friday, February 7.
