ANC appoints new regional task team for iLembe
This follows the recent dissolution of regional leadership structures by the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal, a decision prompted by the party’s declining support in the province.
The African National Congress (ANC) has appointed a new Regional Task Team (RTT) for the General Gizenga Mpanza Region.
The announcement was made on Sunday during the Provincial Working Committee’s visit to KwaDukuza.
The 30-member RTT will be led by convener Phumlile Zulu, former speaker of the KwaDukuza municipality.
Zama Ncalane, former deputy mayor of Maphumulo, has been appointed as deputy convener.
Nkosenhle Mngadi, current chairperson of the iLembe Enterprise board, will serve as coordinator, with Mbuso Khuzwayo as deputy coordinator.
KwaDukuza speaker Dolly Govender will take on the role of team fundraiser.

The RTT’s mandate is to rebuild, renew and unite the region ahead of the upcoming local government elections and the ANC’s regional conference.
This development follows the recent dissolution of regional leadership structures by the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal, a decision prompted by the party’s declining support in the province.
In the May 29 elections, the ANC secured only 17% of the vote in KZN, marking a significant drop that triggered intervention by the party’s national leadership in an effort to revitalise its regional presence.
