Thembeni author champions young dreamers with new children’s book

Best known as a relationship guru, Lunga Ntuli is hoping to inspire the next generation of authors.

Dreams, resilience and storytelling took centre stage as Lunga Ntuli launched his powerful new children’s book at Simbithi Country Club last Friday.

The event marked more than just the unveiling of Nomfundo: The Girl Who Chose to Rise, it was a celebration of dreams realised and new ones inspired.

Ntuli, a Thembeni local and bestselling author of Why Men Cheat and Women Do It Better, has now turned his attention to children’s literature with a story rooted in faith, perseverance and the power of education.

Nomfundo follows a young girl raised by her grandmother who, despite hardship, grows up to become a doctor. The book is dedicated to every child who has ever felt laughed at, overlooked or left behind.

Speaking at the launch, Ntuli shared the personal significance of hosting the event at Simbithi, where he once lived when it was still undeveloped farmland.

“It was where all my dreams started. There were certain things growing up that we couldn’t touch, places we couldn’t go. Ugogo would always say, ‘Don’t go there,’ but I told myself, one day I will not only walk there, I will drive there. Today, standing here, I see that dream fulfilled.”

He emphasised the need for children to see themselves in the stories they read.

“We must write books our children can relate to. That is why we are working with companies to donate books to schools nationwide.”

Among his supporters is Nkanyiso Mngoma, founder of Inkayiso Shoes, a social enterprise that manufactures school shoes for children in need.

“Shoes give confidence, but a book gives a child vision and belief,” said Mngoma.

Ntuli expressed deep gratitude to the community and Simbithi for their support. With strong interest and growing partnerships, Nomfundo is already set to inspire a new generation of

dreamers.
