Ballito potjie competition returns this weekend – the cheapest lunch in town!
Just R50 gets you a hearty meal, while there are plenty of fun activities to look forward to.
The Ballito Neighbourhood Watch will celebrate 25 years of successful operation when their popular annual potjie competition returns to Townsend Park on Saturday.
Perhaps the only thing more consistent than BNW members volunteering their late-nights for community safety is the incredible delicacies that are produced year in and year out. For just R50 a person, residents can enjoy a hearty potjie lunch – value you are unlikely to find anywhere else along the coastline this weekend.
Families can look forward to a full day of fun, food and festivities. Kids under 12 enter free, and there will be jumping castles, a fire truck display, tasty treats and plenty more to keep them entertained. Adults can enjoy refreshments from a variety of local vendors.
Adding to the atmosphere, Ndlondlo Reptile Park will show off some fascinating creatures, while local business exhibits will help you get to know your fellow community members better.
BNW chairman Morne Steffens said funds raised from the event will go towards maintenance of automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras, help pay for patrol equipment and support volunteer patrollers.
“The BNW aims to help people protect themselves and their properties, and to reduce the fear of crime by means of active, visible citizen presence, improved home security tips, greater vigilance, accurate reporting of suspicious incidents and crime, and by fostering a community spirit,” said Steffens.
Join the potjie competition from 11am at Townsend Park in Ballito on November 1 to find out more. If you would like to get involved as a member or volunteer, visit ballitonw.org.za.
