Obituary: John Hulett – A pillar of the community
A renowned sugar farmer, John passed away peacefully last week aged 86.
John Albert Hulett passed away peacefully on his beloved Saxe Farm in Umhlali last weekend.
John (4 February 1939 – 8 November 2025) was the devoted husband of Yvonne and cherished father of Sean, Cameron, Miles and Mitzi.
A renowned sugar farmer and master builder, John played a significant role in shaping both the land and the community. With passion and purpose, he built homes and dams, planted thousands of trees and nurtured not only the soil but friendships that flourished over decades.
Strong, generous and deeply practical, John measured success not by wealth, but by the happiness he cultivated in his family and the joy he brought to others through laughter and kindness.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held on November 15 at 11am at All Souls Anglican Church, Salt Rock.
