Ballito’s Hope4 NGO launches campaign to help underprivileged children this Christmas

The drive welcomes new and gently used clothing and toys for children and teens up to the age of 14.

A Ballito NGO is calling on locals to donate clothing and toys to brighten the holidays for children in need.

Hope4, an international NGO based in Ballito, aims to bring hope and dignity to children affected by poverty throughout the province. Founder and CEO Chris Lomas said thousands of children are heading into 2026 without suitable clothing, including schoolwear, or even a single toy to call their own.

The organisation, which typically responds to poverty, human trafficking, conflict zones and natural disasters in Moldova, Ukraine and Turkey, is now focusing on the needs of local communities.

“Our initiative aims to restore dignity and joy to those most in need,” said Lomas.

“These children face unimaginable circumstances. We want them to feel seen, valued and cared for. A jacket, a pair of shoes or a small toy can be life-changing for a child who has nothing.”

The drive welcomes new and gently used clothing and toys for children and teens up to the age of 14. Items will be sorted and delivered through Hope4’s network of community partners, schools and local organisations across KZN.

Lomas emphasised that for many families living below the poverty line, these items are a luxury.

“Community-driven generosity can change that. Hope4 is built on the belief that compassion fuels action and when a community comes together, anything is possible.”

Drop-offs can be made at Hope4’s new office at 58 Moffat Drive, Ballito (next to the Renault dealership), Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm.
