Wearable art fashion show to launch new exhibition at The Gallery
The DE/MATERIALIZE exhibition launches tonight (February 5) at 6pm.
The upcoming exhibition at The Gallery at Lifestyle Centre, DE/MATERIALIZE, will offer visitors a thoughtful exploration of transformation through art.
Running from Thursday, February 5, until March 23, the group exhibition brings together textile art, painting, sculpture, drawing and mixed media, examining what happens when materials are softened, unravelled or reimagined.

Textile art plays a central role in the exhibition through the participation of the National Fiberworks Group, which will present a fashion show featuring wearable art created with the participation of six pupils from Nkosibomvu Secondary School. Traditionally associated with function and domestic spaces, textiles are reimagined as powerful contemporary works that speak to labour, memory, identity and the human touch.
The official opening takes place at 6pm on Thursday and coincides with First Thursdays at The Studios. Alongside the fashion show, there will be live music by Quiet Storm and a curated wine tasting by Lifestyle Tops. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The Gallery is open daily from 9am to 5pm. For more information, visit thegalleryballito.co.za or follow
