More than 100 golfers swapped birdies and bogeys for a good cause at Brettenwood’s annual Charity Golf Day, raising R168 000 for Sizani School.

Held at Umhlali Country Club last week, the event brought together golfers, sponsors and supporters to raise funds towards upgrading the school’s ablution facilities.

Ailsa Drummond, Paddi Reich, Glenda Hickman and Debby Meyer claimed the four-ball honours after a strong showing on the course.

Sizani School was selected as this year’s beneficiary because of its proximity to Brettenwood Coastal Estate, with organisers hoping to make a meaningful contribution to a neighbouring school.

Organisers said the initiative reflected the spirit of Ubuntu and the importance of communities supporting those around them.

Fidelity ADT was the event’s title sponsor, while a number of other local businesses, sponsors and individuals also supported the fundraiser.

Brettenwood marketing manager and Golf Day organiser Samantha Subban thanked everyone who contributed to the event.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who gave their time, resources and generosity to make this year’s Golf Day such a success. To see R168 000 raised for Sizani School is something we can all be proud of,” she said.

“We hope this is just the beginning of our journey with the school and that, together, we can continue to make a positive and lasting difference in the community around us.”
