Young musicians take flight

Four Crawford Preparatory North Coast musicians took part in the annual Crawford Schools Soiree hosted at the Crawford College La Lucia hall on August 15.

Pupils from all Crawford Schools countrywide auditioned to be part of this prestigious event. Musicians were accompanied on the evening by the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra. Ava Barbour of grade two, Anelisa Maphumulo of grade four and Tatum Teunissen of grade three sang ‘My favourite things’ by Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Daniel Watson of grade four played ‘Street Fair’ on the piano as well as playing a trumpet solo of ‘O Sole Mio’.

Principal, Bjorn Teunissen, said, ‘This is a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to be able to perform alongside an orchestra of the calibre of the KZNPO and I am sure that the experience will remain with these pupils for many a year to come.”
