“No one has a right to touch me here beside my mom.”
Such were the poignant lyrics of the songs that Intandokazi Creche children were singing on Friday,November 28.
This was held at Shakashead Community Hall where pupils and parents of ten Amaqhawe association pre-schools’ filled the hall.
The songs that the children were singing were in angry protest against abuse of women and children. The song continues: “We ask our teachers, pastors and all leaders to help and protect us from those who abuse us.”
Sinothando crèche and pre-school teacher Sthembile Makhaya said they were delighted with the turn out.
“This is the first time we have had a combined graduation ceremony and we are looking forward to hosting this kind of event again in the future,” said Makhanya.
Ward councillor Jetro Banda thanked the teachers of these pre-schools for organising the event.”
“I salute the teachers for their hard work and for sharpening our future leaders’ minds,” said Banda.
