Crawford Prep hosts cricket festival

Umhlanga College wins tournament for second time.

Umhlanga College won the trophy last weekend at the U10 cricket festival hosted by Crawford Prep North Coast.This is the second time the school has been the overall winners in the tournament’s five year history.

Six schools participated in this festival being, Atholton Primary, Virginia Preparatory School, St Henry’s Marist College, Crawford La Lucia Preparatory, Umhlanga College and Crawford Preparatory North Coast.

Each of the schools were given the opportunity to play three matches over Friday and Saturday.

Some outstanding cricket was played, fostering ties and building relationships between the schools with the teams enjoying a good weekend of cricket before the start of their respective seasons.

The trophy for the best batsman went to Mathew Francis from St Henry’s Marist College for scoring 65 runs and the best bowler trophy went to Josh Botha from Crawford North Coast for taking eight wickets.
