The Crawford College North Coast community service club treated residents of the Westbrook Retirement Village to a lovely afternoon of bingo on Saturday, March 7.
The Alice in Wonderland themed event had all the makings of a magical journey through a fantasy bingo land, complete with sweet treats, mad hats and an abundance of prizes.
The school’s community service executive and judiciary, Solomon Shabangu, said the idea for the bingo tournament came from Westbrook Retirement Village’s Anne Watson when community service committee members suggested they got involved with the retirement village.
A number of college pupils and teachers joined the senior citizens in the four bingo games. They were also entertained with impressive performances by a few of the talented Crawford college pupils.
“This was the first time we hosted such an event and we are planning to do this every year,” said Shabangu.
When asked to comment, college principal Andre Loots quoted an inspirational line from Alice in Wonderland: “It is only impossible if you believe it is.”
