New classrooms for Shakaskraal Primary

School excited to introduce five new classrooms.

Shakaskraal Primary School officially opened five new classrooms on Saturday, March 14.

According to acting school principal Poovalingum Govender the new classrooms will accommodate 200 pupils.

“We were fortunate that a social grant from Soul City, to the tune of R400 000 was given to our school, to undertake this building project. However that amount was not sufficient,” said Govender.

He said money raised from past proms, and especially prom 2014 which was a huge success, was used to provide for the shortfall.

Prom 2014 brought in more than R122 000.

The Soul Buddyz Club at Shakaskraal Primary School has been going for the past ten years.

“Our facilitators Dhevina Panday and Sivaranjini Chonan make sure that our pupils are actively engaging in school and community projects,” said Govender.

KZN Education Department general manager: district operational management Thembelihle Gumede thanked the school Soul Buddyz for their hard work and encouraged the community to protect the new classrooms from theft and vandalism.
