Flipping good at judo contest
Umhlali pupils perform at SA Schools Judo Champs.
Five tough-as-nails Umhlali Preparatory School pupils achieved wonders as they were selected to represent their school and province at the SA Schools Judo Championships, recently held in Johannesburg.
Tori Pearson, Jonathan Basson, Justin Basson, Ewan Miskin and Sedge Pearson, who all train at Shihan Judo Academy, traveled to the dusty town of Turffontein to compete on October 3 and 4 against fighters from across the country, and fought extremely hard in a very difficult competition.
One little warrior, Tori Pearson, took home a gold medal for her outstanding performance in the U6 22kg category, which makes this young judo prodigy the SA champion.
