Donate your hair to CANSA urges young girl
"It was a good feeling because I knew someone else would be happy to get my hair," said little Mila.
Proving that you are never too young to do a good deed, Mila Robert, in grade two at Umhlali Preparatory School, recently decided to donate her long locks to cancer patients.
Her aunt Louise had told her about how people donate their hair to make wigs.
A short while later Mila’s granny, Sandy Stewart, was diagnosed with cancer. It definitely seemed like a sign to go ahead with the big chop.

“It was a good feeling because I knew someone else would be happy to get my hair,” said little Mila.
She said her ponytail measured an impressive 28cm. After cutting off the ponytail, it was tied on both ends, put into a ziploc bag and posted to CANSA.

Her granny has since been given the all clear in her treatment and Mila has learned a valuable lesson about selfless deeds.
She wants to encourage young girls on the North Coast to consider sending their ponytails off to CANSA after their next big chop.
