Crawford College North Coast pupils dream big

A pass rate of 100 percent as well as a total of 152 distinctions was the cause for staff and family to look on proudly on the fruit of their hard work and sacrifices for the last year.

Crawford College North Coast matriculants stood with bated breath on Tuesday, January 7, as their matric results were presented to them around excited family and friends.

A pass rate of 100 percent as well as a total of 152 distinctions was the cause for staff and family to look on proudly on the fruit of their hard work and sacrifices for the last year.

A wave of elation flooded the gathered group of students as the culmination of their school years and experiences finally came to conclusion, and the top ten performers were counted down to reveal the dux of the 2019 year.

Isabella Pieroni receives her trophy as the dux for 2019 from proud executive head Vernon David.

17-year-old Isabella Pieroni burst into tears as college executive head Vernon David presented her with a trophy for being the top matriculant for Crawford College, with six distinctions and a grade average of 88 percent.

Beaming with pride, the well-balanced student attributed her performance to her rigorous routine.

“I made a strict study timetable to keep myself in check, as I also love dancing,” said Pieroni, who wants to study accountancy at Varsity College in Durban.

Another prominent student within the top ten matriculants was Ethan Luyt, who has also been a well-known and popular face with his peers and teachers as he has attended Crawford North Coast since his very first day at pre-primary school.

His parents Louis and Lynette Luyt together with his sister Emma were present to bask in the background of Ethan’s hard work, achieving eight IEB distinctions. Extremely happy with his results, Ethan intends to study a degree in computer science and physics at the University of Cape Town.

Ethan’s father Louis gives full credit to his son for his discipline and dedication to his work.

“His focus and concentration brought him to his success, through the good and the hard times. He really put the work in,” said Louis.

Ethan also added that knowing himself and what he wanted to the core was very important in order to achieve greatness.

“You need to do what you want to do, if you have an interest in something, involve yourself in it, no matter whether it’s academics, sports or anything else.”
