High-flyers celebrated at Ashton College Ballito’s Matric Valedictory

The 69 matriculants were able to enjoy their success before the last push for final exams began. 

There was cause for celebration after a difficult year when Ashton International College hosted their Matric Valedictory on October 7.

The 69 matriculants were able to enjoy their success before the last push for final exams began. 

All social distancing measures were observed in the Grace Hall, allowing parents to join in on the occasion with their children.

“This year was an extraordinarily difficult year, during which we thought that certain tasks were impossible.

“But with the support of parents, family members and teachers as well as the continued teaching through MS Teams, the academic year was successfully completed.

“A year our students displayed heart, spirit, character and courage,” said Mrs Jenny van Buuren, Senior College Head.

The IEB Curriculum Dux, Jonathan Horlock posing with his awards. He ended with an average of 86% and also won the Outstanding Achievement Award, Academic Honours, and the Varsity College Scholarship of Excellence.

Half Colours, Full Colours and Honours were awarded on the student’s continued assessment marks.

Jonathan Horlock and Saxon Osborne were also recognised as the top achievers in the IEB and Cambridge curriculum respectively.
