North Coast schools are triumphant once again with Ashton International College Ballito, Crawford International College North Coast and Curro Mount Richmore all achieving a 100% pass rate assuring future matriculants of their promise of excellence.
Bachelor degree pass rates were also outstanding, with Ashton 98.6%, Crawford 97% and Curro 85%.
Despite a slight decline from last year’s pass rate countrywide, the Independent Examinations Board today revealed that the class of 2020 achieved a pass rate of 98.07%, down from 2019’s 98.82%.
Just over 13 000 matriculants wrote the IEB examinations, of which locally some matriculants achieved results which fell into the top 1% of the country.
Shriyan Singh of Ashton International College Ballito scored within the national top 1% for Accounting, at an average of 96%, while Declan Ronan placed within the top 1% for Business Studies at 94% and, Christopher Johnstone came in at the top 1% with Mathematical Literacy at 95%.
Ashton has broken no traditions, again achieving a 100% pass rate despite the tough year of 2020, with Covid-19 challenges as well as the tough IEB final exams.

Top matriculant at Ashton was Kevin Boodhram, who achieved 7 distinctions of which 2 were above 90%.
Kevin scored an aggregate of 88.42%, and was followed in second by Shriyan with an aggregate of 88.29% and also 7 distinctions.

The top 3 IEB matriculants at Curro Mount Richmore in Salt Rock were Alessia Collazuol, Liam Goodfellow and Aliyanah Ramluckan.
Aliyanah scored 7 As, with an aggregate of 85%, followed by Liam with 6 As at an aggregate of 84.7%.
Alessia scored 4 As and also achieved within the top 1% of the country for Mathematical Literacy at 96%.
Curro achieved a total of 46 As across its 33 matriculants, accompanied by a 100% IEB pass rate.

The top 3 matriculants at Crawford International College North Coast were twins Zenya and Amera Naicker and Ifeoma Dinka.
Zenya narrowly edged out her sister with 8 As and an aggregate of 91.69% and she was also in the top 5% of learners countrywide.
Amera got 7 As with an aggregate of 91.31%, also landing her in the top 5% of matriculants who sat the IEB Examinations.

Ifeoma Dinka rounded out the top 3 with 8 As and an aggregate of 89.77%.
Crawford achieved a 100% IEB pass rate and saw 171 distinctions between its 73 students, 65 of which came from the top 10.
