Maidstone Primary remembers the King

Mrs McCulloch, the school's acting head of department, gave a short speech remembering King Goodwill's passionate defence of Zulu culture and traditions, as well as his views on the environment.

Maidstone Primary School honoured the late King Goodwill Zwelithini with a special commemoration ceremony last week.

The children were permitted to come dressed in traditional Zulu attire in celebration of the late king’s passion for the Zulu culture.

Mrs McCulloch, the school’s acting head of department, gave a short speech remembering King Goodwill’s passionate defence of Zulu culture and traditions, as well as his views on the environment.

This was followed by a gumboot dance by 3 pupils, Wandile, Kinke and Luyanda.

The school sang the national anthem and observed the South African flag at half mast in respectful silence.
