Ashton pupils thrill in brilliant Beauty and the Beast production
Last week’s four-day run starred Megan Roberts and Stavros Vassilatos in the title roles.
Dazzling costumes, enchanting musical numbers and heartfelt performances lit up the stage during Ashton International College Ballito’s four-day production of Beauty and the Beast.

The thrilling show ran from June 18 to 21 and starred matric pupils Megan Roberts and Stavros Vassilatos in the title roles of Belle and the Beast.

The classic Disney story follows a selfish prince who is cursed and transformed into a fearsome beast as punishment for his lack of compassion. To break the spell and return to his human form, he must learn to love – and be loved in return – by a bright and beautiful young woman whom he holds captive in his enchanted castle.

The enchantment also affects the castle’s servants, who are transformed into animated household objects.
The talented young cast brought these colourful characters to life, from the witty candelabra Lumière, to the grumpy clock Cogsworth and the sweet little teacup Chip.

“Beauty and the Beast is more than just a fairytale,” said show director Tara Blake.
“It’s a powerful story about looking beyond appearances, the importance of kindness and the magic of believing in change. Our students have poured their hearts into this performance.”
