Young athletes impress at Mandini inter-school sports festival

Principal Desigan Pillay said the event highlighted the importance of sport in building confidence, discipline and unity among pupils.

Cheers and friendly rivalry filled Mandini Academy on Saturday as eight schools competed in an action-packed sports festival.

Young athletes from under-nine to under-13 competed in rugby, hockey and netball.

Participating schools included Darnall Primary, Richards Bay Christian School, uLundi Independent School, Melmoth Primary School, North Coast Primary, Eshowe Junior School and Maidstone Primary.

The atmosphere remained energetic throughout the day, with proud parents and supporters lining the sidelines, encouraging the players and celebrating every goal, try and tackle.

“Events like these continue to build relationships between schools, develop our young athletes and strengthen community pride,” he said.

Pillay thanked staff, organisers and supporters for ensuring the event ran smoothly and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to holistic education.
