Six-year-old Umhlali Prep pupil wins series of SA Kids Golf titles

She won by six shots against a strong field, many of whom are in Grade 1.

Six-year-old Riley Ross has enjoyed a fantastic start to her golfing journey, winning four of the seven events she has played in.

The Umhlali Prep Grade R pupil most recently claimed the SA Kids June Competition U8 Girls title at Simbithi Country Club. This after winning the SA Kids competition at Bosch Hoek Country Club on May 24, with a personal-best score of 55 over nine holes. She won by six shots against a strong field, many of whom are in Grade 1.

The victories followed earlier titles at Umhlali Country Club in May and Kloof Country Club in April.
Riley is following in the footsteps of her older brother, Carter, who is also a promising golfer on the junior circuit.

“I love golf because I love playing with my friends. My grandpa caddies for me, and I win trophies like my brother,” she said.
