Restaurant review – Yum Thai

With the sudden abundance of Asian restaurants on the North Coast we are spoiled for choice.
Yum Thai at the Tiffany’s Centre in Salt Rock is a really good option if you’re in the mood for some great, fresh Thai sushi.
I loved the décor, which is clean, bright and modern with bright splashes of lime green. We had children with us and the helpful staff was especially good with them.
I did find that the food took some time to arrive but when it did, it was well worth the wait. I had the Bangkok duck and as a massive fan of duck, I need it to be done with a perfect balance of being crispy, but still juicy.
The duck was served in a Thai wrap, which was pretty much an egg omelet drenched in a honey and ginger sauce/glaze that was amazing.
The sushi was very good but I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t have any tuna, which I should understand as tuna gets a bit scarce on our coast at this time of year, but you can still get imported from the Cape, which is an expensive option.
I was really impressed at the price of the 22-piece platter for R155.
We also had one of their Thai curries that was very good and well rounded with great contrast between heat and flavor. Desserts were also very nice, the high light being the chocolate and hazel nut parcels hmmmm!
It is a lovely restaurant but please note the opening and closing times in the information block, as I would hate for you to go there to be disappointed because they are closed.
