There is something about the thought of pub grub that always makes me hungry.  I don’t know if it is the simple uncomplicated flavours or the fact that it always seems to hit the spot.
The Grandstand Sports Bar & Grill, located under The Lockeroom gym at The Circle is a typical pub with the menu featuring the usual culprits. There is a selection of snack baskets, burgers and steaks with a couple of added extras. I had the Irish Nachos and though I have I bit of a problem with the name as they are more like chilli cheese fries, I really enjoyed it. The dish is pretty much chips topped with mince, black beans, sliced jalapeños and melted cheese and it really hit the spot. My dining companion was on a diet so he was looking for a healthier option, which he found in the sirloin with a side vegetable.
The steak was okay, if a little over done, and I don’t
think it was the best meat but I guess you can’t expect gourmet meat without paying for it. Their prices are very good and great value for money. I see the venue as a pub for young adults and up, where you can really let your hair down.
A great place to enjoy a Sharks/Bokke match.
