Whenever I am at Tiffany’s Shopping Centre I cannot resist grabbing a samoosa or two from Saffron. They are super good.
But last week I had my first meal at this establishment, and although I did not have high expectations, once again I was proved wrong.
The food is good, not over the top, but a nice interpretation of Durban curry.
For starters we had a selection of every flavour of
samoosa, and spring rolls, which was a great way to work up an appetite.
For mains I felt like a change so instead of a curry I had the prawn roti that was really good. The prawns were tender and not overcooked.
My dining partner is not the biggest fan of Indian cuisine so he chose items that did not include chilli or curry and settled for grilled calamari.
The tender and tasty grilled calamari served with home made chips hit the spot.
On the dessert menu the chocolate brownie is a chocoholics dream and is served with a stunning ice cream – no low grade commercial ice cream here!
They also offer a wide range of spice and mixes, all imported from India.
All in all the meal was enjoyable, the host fantastic who shared with us some of his many plan for the future. It is definitely worth keeping your eye on this one.
