I’m sure most North Coasters know that I am keen on our natural environment, so I want to advertise the e-waste clean-up day. On Saturday February 1, Desko at Makro in Springfield, Durban will be accepting all e-waste from 9am to 2pm.
As we should all know, the weekend of February 8 and 9 is the last voter registration opportunity. Citizens of 16 and over may register, and the under 18s will automatically be added to the voters roll as they turn 18.
Our famous M4 is taking strain. The traffic circles sort the men from the boys. In many instances they are not too well marked, and at some there are no cat’s eyes as you approach them.
I have suggested to the transport department officials that they install the new “flashing” ones, which are in use on the N2 at the Umdloti intersection. However that seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
I also don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch, but I have been informed by a reliable source that the dune in front of Girls and Boys Town at Genazzano could be soon sorted out.
It has been a couple of years since the DoT did some creative landscaping and removed the dune. My saucy informant told me that eThekwini would act as agents for the DoT to supervise the re-landscaping.
Finally, our lifeguards are taking a beating in the press. In fact it appears that they have been giving as good as they get. On the plus side the lifeguards had a really hectic holiday season.
The lifeguards managed to keep most of us safe. Since then, the wheels seem to have come off. It is in all our interests, to abide by the regulations – especially if we want to again have safe and clean Blue Flag beaches.
