On the road – 20 February 2015

Comrades training is picking up momentum at the Dolphin Coast Striders.

As the weekend drew to a close I could feel that my tired legs were telling me that Comrades training was picking up momentum.

Weekend runs will be long and slow during the next three months and many hours will be spent on the road.

More than 20 runners turned up for the Saturday morning run from Tiffany’s Shopping centre early on Valentines morning.

We were spoilt with an amazing sunrise as we pounded down towards Christmas Bay. After the run most of the gents quickly dashed into Spar to do last minute Valentine’s Day card shopping.

The rainy conditions on Sunday morning was a very welcome change to the recent hot temperatures as we headed out for a long slow run (33kms) from the club.

A special thank you to Cecil and Gemma who diligently seconded Sunday’s run in the rain.

The importance of these long slow training runs on the weekends cannot be overestimated – don’t skip the time on your legs! If you want some advice or training buddies, pop down to the club and find out more.

Please diarise the following upcoming events:

Braai night will be on Wednesday, February 25 after the time trial. As a special treat there will be live entertainment, so bring your meat and salads and come and enjoy the evening with us. There will be fantastic lucky draw prizes to win and a cash bar.
