On the Road – 26 February 2015

It has been another busy, adventure-filled weekend for the Dolphins.

Two of our committee members took to the water and completed the gruelling three-day Dusi Challenge. Well done to Warwick Taylor and Barry Holland.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Heine Jordaan, who sadly passed away during the second stage of the Dusi.

The Maritzburg City Marathon is always a popular event. The route is fairly flat and runners have often completed the course in fast times and PBs (personal bests).

Sunday’s overcast conditions were ideal for distance running and 20 DCS Members lined up to participate in the marathon.

Special congratulations to the following runners: Petoros Zweni who placed third in his age category in a time of 2:55:06, Sipho Myeni also ran a sub 3-hour marathon, finishing in 2:58:29, Bongani Bhengu just missed a sub 3 hours but still ran an outstanding 3:00:52 and Juan Campher on completing his first marathon.

Jolandi and Malcolm Jansen van Rensburg decided to celebrate their wedding anniversary on the road. Congratulations and we hope you finish many more races together.

To everyone else on the road, well done and we hope you had a fantastic run.

Don’t forget Braai Night will be this Wednesday, February 25 after the time trial. As a special treat there will be live entertainment so bring your meat, salads etc. and come and enjoy the evening with us. Fantastic lucky draws to win and a cash bar available.

Another exciting event for the ladies is the Dolphin Coast Striders Ladies Night. Please join us on Thursday, February 26 at 6pm at the club house. There will be three speakers for the evening sharing their knowledge and tips.

Lianca Dookran, Ballito-based physiotherapist will be explaining more about physiotherapy, running injuries and evidence-based treatment. Debbie Holland, a local reflexologist will be sharing more about the importance of reflexology and a holistic approach to healing.

Sarah Swainson from Sarah Elizabeth will be showcasing the top sports bras and sharing the importance of good support and how to achieve the right fit. It is time to banish those badly fitted bras from your wardrobe. There will be time to ask questions and get great tips! This event is open to the public and not only club members.

Ladies will receive a free drink on arrival and a R100 gift voucher from Sarah Elizabeth. There will be fantastic lucky draw prizes for the ladies to win.
