What are our challenges?

The beach manager tells us that the beach node upgrades are reaching finality and work should start soon. It will be good to see some new landscaping and upgrades to old infrastructure that will hopefully be ready for our busy Christmas period.

After our welcome rains our roads have become very potholed and the KDM staff are trying their best to contain them. Of course potholes occur easily where roads have not been maintained over the recent past years thus leading to the huge inconveniences.

We have been trying to arrange meetings with the EDP Director and the Civils Director in order to glean some information on burning issues relating to Ward six and 22, but to no avail. I wonder why we are shunned like this, though we represent over 15 000 residents?

So what are some of our challenges? There is of course the taxi rank, and the PLG school matter. We have a dysfunctional, unfinished municipal building and a clinic that needs urgent repairs. Not to mention the Lions Club which after three years has still not been brought to board.

Yes, good citizens, your councillors do try but the game we play has different rules to what you and I might expect! An interesting take on what to do with the Ballito Bay Mall caught my attention recently. Convert it into a Senior Citizens Paradise? Maybe someone should be paying attention and talking to the liquidators.

With every new day the 2016 elections become closer and the desperate in-fighting for positions in the various political parties marches on.

The ANC has opted for youth candidates and this means a lot of experience will go out the door. The DA is well placed to increase our footprint in the Ilembe District and we welcome our newly elected leader Mmusi Maimane to gather many more votes for us countrywide.

The time is ripe. The ANC are leaderless and we must prepare to take over this wonderful country before it is lost.
