One of the most popular events on the KZN trail running calender, the King of Phezulu, should be on any avid trail runner’s bucket list.
Linda Gathmann completed this amazing race and had the following to say. “Whether you had entered the 5, 10 or 20km course, you would have run one of the most challenging, yet exciting trails KZN has to offer! Having taken on the 20km route, we started off with several steep descents into the deepest areas of the game reserve. Powering along the abundant single track, tiptoeing up intense hills, sliding across slippery, wooden bridges and picking my way along a treacherous rock face section, I had a taste of everything – including a giraffe sighting! Thank you DCS team for helping me train to achieve my sub two hour goal!”
Our charity hat walk takes place on December 16 at 8.30am from the Salt Rock Country Club. Everyone is invited so bring your kids, prams, dogs and come and enjoy this 5km fun walk / run with us. Please wear a Christmas hat (its compulsory). Entry fee is R100 for a T-shirt and all proceeds will be donated to the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund. Each week, during the lead up to this event, we will be collecting toys, dog food, stationary, toiletries and non-perishables which will also be donated. This week we are calling for stationary items so bring any donations to morning runs or drop off at the club on Wednesday during time trial.
“If you show goodwill and kindness towards those who cannot stand up for themselves, you set a tone of compassion and goodwill that permeates all” – Jim Gorant. We want to be part of helping those in our community that can’t help themselves.
Just a reminder about some of the events that we have coming up:

The Big Hill Challenge (10 and 21km routes) will be take place on Sunday, December 20. This is going to be a race that we hope everyone, including the holidaymakers, will enjoy. “Bowls and Braai” event for all members to tae place on December 6. This is a fun day of laughter, bowls and of course a braai – please speak to Woza for more information.
