On The Road – 4 December 2015
Well done to all who competed in the Sani Stagger race.
The Sani Stagger 2015, hosted by the Sani Athletic club, is not called an endurance race for nothing. On Saturday, November 28 two Dolphins, Phil Sithole and Matt Coughlan, bravely took on the marathon challenge.
The race runs along the Sani Pass, between the Sani Pass Hotel and the Lesotho Border Post and is not for the faint hearted. Saturday Sithole (Phil) had the following to say after the race, “…it really smashed me, but I thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and I tried my best to absorb as much as possible. The memories will last forever”. Matt finished his fourth consecutive Sani Stagger in a time of 4:57 and Phil made it home in 5:30. Well done guys, this is a mammoth run and definitely one to be celebrated.
The Dolphins have also been busy in the water and on their bikes this past weekend. Congratulations to Ben Kilian who completed the MiWay Ultra Triathlon, placing sixth in his age category, in a time of 5:13:22. Well done also to Barry and Woza who were back on the water paddling 28kms this weekend in preparation for Duzi canoe marathon.
