I recently saw a fantastic quote that was a good reminder as we launch into 2016 – “If you want 2016 to be your year, don’t sit on the couch and wait for it. Go out and make it happen”- Anon.
So, if you are reading this and have always wanted to start running, get fitter, run a 10km, half marathon or even Comrades then don’t delay. Go out and make the changes necessary. Set a running or walking goal and stick to it fiercely – fight for it.
New Year’s resolutions often become a list of things that we never actually plan to achieve. Don’t let 2016 be the same. This year try set one running goal and stick to it. It might be the catalyst that starts you on a journey to great things.
Joining a running club is one of the best ways to get the support, encouragement and training partners to help you achieve that running goal. Dolphin’s membership is now open and 2016 licenses will be available from Wednesday, January 20 after time trial at the Salt Rock Country Club. Membership and licence forms will be sent out to current members and will also be available on the website.
Comrades training is in full swing and the training programme is also available on the website. Morning runs start at 5am from the club and longer runs take place on a Saturday and Sunday mornings. The next race will be that of the Kearsney Striders (10 and 21km), on Sunday, January 24. No entries will be taken on race day so make sure to get your entry in.
Our main time trial takes place every Wednesday night at the Salt Rock Country Club from 5.45pm. A 2km, 3.5km or 5km route is available. Everyone is welcome. For the less serious runners and walkers time trials take place each Thursday starting at 5.45pm at the Thatch Club House (near the Caravan Park).
