On The Road – 22 January 2016

Running with a club is a great way to keep you motivated.

The morning running groups continues to grow steadily. Last week we had over 30 people out for loops on Tuesday morning and the longer training runs on the weekend attracting ever more of those looking for other ‘mad’ training buddies. With the Two Oceans marathon only a few months away and Comrades looming in May, having company on the road often makes the training a whole lot more bearable and fun. The support, encouragement and knowledge that you as a Dolphins member will get from other club members is invaluable.

I was having a particularly bad run last week Wednesday morning and thankfully Mark and Nikola decided to keep me company and make sure I was OK. As I trudged along, grunting my single word answers to their witty conversation (that was all I could manage), I was reminded that everyone is going to have a bad run at some time and it is so much easier on the road when you have that little bit of support and encouragement to see you through.

Likewise, when you have an amazing run or break a PB (personal best) the same club members are there to lift a glass and celebrate with you. So if you are debating whether to join or renew your membership at Dolphins I really encourage you to join this family of runners and walkers that are waiting to help and encourage you towards to you running or walking goals.

Congratulations to Ben Kilian who came 11th overall this weekend at the KZN Tri Champs – we are really proud of your achievement.

Dolphin’s membership is now open and 2016 licenses will be available from Wednesday, January 20 after time trial at the Salt Rock Country Club. Membership and license forms will be sent out to current members and will also be available on the website. The Comrades and Two Oceans training programme are also available to download on the website.

The next club race will be the Kearsney Striders 10 and 21km race on Sunday 24 January. The club tent will be up so come and enjoy a drink and something to eat after your run. No entries will be taken on race day so make sure to get your entry in.
