DJ’s Records – DJ Reed

I would like to propose that Jesus is the answer to the big questions of life.

Jesus has answers for the Atheist and the Sincere Seeker of Truth.

“Jesus is the answer” – scrawled on a subway wall. Someone replied: “So, what’s the question?”

I would like to propose that Jesus is the answer to the big questions of life.

He responds to these questions in a way that I find intellectually satisfying, in a way that atheism fails to answer.

1. Where do we come from?

Jesus’ answer: “I have made you awesome, and in My image.” [John 1:3; Genesis 1:26-28; Psalm 100:3 and 139:13]

2. Where are we going?

Jesus’ answer: “I died to give you the assurance of eternal life.” [John 3:16 and 1John 5:13]

“I am going there to prepare a place for you” [John 14:2]

3. What is the meaning of life?

For the atheist, life appears to be ultimately meaningless and without hope. But Jesus gave the ultimate meaning of life to the apostle Paul, that I, too, have come to experience: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” [Philippians 1:21 (NIV)]

4. Why all the suffering and pain in the world?

This is probably the most difficult and heart wrenching question. But I believe Jesus sheds light on this highly emotive question.

It is obvious, that the only alternative to the kind of world that we have, a world where suffering cannot occur, would be a world populated by robots. The problem with a world like that is, that it would be a world without love. Love is only possible in a world where its inhabitants enjoy free will, and thus have the ability to choose to love. Since “God is love”, a world of automatons would be meaningless to Him. [See 1 John 4:8]

It is also important to realise that suffering has power to train us to achieve our full potential. Jesus, Himself, experienced the training suffering provides. “Even though Jesus was God’s Son, He learned obedience from the things He suffered.” [Hebrews 5:8 (NLT)]

It is also most helpful to remember that God is not coldly distant from human suffering. But in the person of Jesus, He has entered the stage of mankind’s suffering and ultimately, as King of the Universe, suffered the most excruciating torture, humiliation and death by crucifixion, as a human, on your behalf and mine.
