#Opinion: Stately response or slap in the face? Your views on Ramaphosa’s performance in the White House

Readers shared their feedback on the biggest news of the week via our Facebook page.

We asked residents to share their thoughts on how the president Cyril Ramaphosa represented the country in his meeting with American president Donald Trump.

Annabelle Gee – I thought he was quite dignified under the circumstances. Trump is a bully, and it could have gone so much worse.

Tamara Halberstadt – I just wish the meeting had been more about the horrific crime in the country as a whole not Trump waving around printed images of Congo. I think Trump looked the idiot not doing his research knowing nothing of the real issues and how SA government worked. The meeting was pointless it achieved nothing except pandering to the little orange niknaks tantrum. Trump does not give a hoot about SA it is all a political game, and we got caught in the crossfire.

Sevika Stensby – He did just great on the Trump show. By now we should all know what to expect. Trump wants to be pandered to and that’s exactly what he did. Trump wanted top golfers and other rich people he likes at the meeting so he took them along. All in all, the only surprising thing is how it is being called an ambush. Zelensky was an ambush, not this.

Ansa Leibenberg – Our President acted in a presidential manner. Unfortunately, one could not claim the same about the host president.

Siyabonga Zulu – That could have been an email.

Jennifer Beresford – Well. The media feedback from most of the world was positive toward SA and negative to the Trump regime. It’s only in SA and amongst the MAGA wackjobs that he is getting a bad rap.
