#ReportBack: Frustration mounts over delayed road repairs in KwaDukuza’s Ward 17
The KwaDukuza municipality says repairs will start soon.
iLembe DA caucus leader, Krsna Sing, writes:
Residents of Stock Road in Ward 17 are fed up with a road that has been dug up and left unrepaired for seven months.
iLembe District Municipality’s pipe repairs left a trail of destruction that KwaDukuza municipality (KDM) was supposed to fix. Despite promises of repairs by December however, nothing has been done and February is now here.
Larkspur Street and Daisy Road face similar neglect and one has been abandoned for over three years. There has been consistent correspondence with management, but still nothing. KDM’s civil department is failing its people. I will keep the pressure on for the repairs to be done.
KDM spokesperson, Bridget Shange, responds.
The roads in question fall within Ward 17 and form part of the municipality’s approved road rehabilitation project. This matter was brought to the municipality’s attention by the Ward 17 councillor.
A contractor has recently been appointed and is busy with the site establishment processes. Construction is expected to begin shortly. This project includes the following roads:
• Daisy Road
• Cactus Road
• Geranium Road
• Bilkis Road
• Stock Road
• Larkspur/Daffodil Road
The municipality remains committed to improving road infrastructure.
