#Letter: Help find my Salt Rock beach saviour
A Johannesburg resident is looking for the young man she believed saved her life while on holiday at the coast.
Johannesburg resident Tessa Theron writes:
I am hoping someone can help me find a young man named Dillan who I believe saved my life at Salt Rock Beach on Saturday, March 7.
I was visiting the coast and enjoying the water in front of the Salt Rock Hotel when I got into trouble. As someone on the wrong side of 50 who also had an Achilles tendon reconstruction last year, I am perhaps a little less steady on my feet than I would like to admit.
Out of nowhere a wave knocked me over and, while I was trying to get up, another wave hit. I was suddenly caught in the water, rolled over and over, struggling to get back onto my feet. I remember becoming increasingly anxious as I could not get a proper breath between the waves.
Through the chaos a man took my hand and pulled me up.
I was so shaken afterwards that the only thing I managed to ask him was his name. What I remember clearly is that he had blonde-to-light-brown hair and vibrant green eyes. I also recall that his birthday is October 6. To me, he truly felt like a golden guardian who appeared exactly when I needed him most.
I would love the chance to thank Dillan properly for his brave and selfless act. If you know who he might be, please help me find him.
