Durban Symphonic Choir to perform in Salt Rock

All proceeds will go to The Orphan Fund and The Nkobongo Resource Centre.

Formed in 1966, the Durban Symphonic Choir has become well known for its presentations of many major classical choral works, including Bach’s St Matthew Passion, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Joseph Haydn’s The Creation.

So North Coast residents should prepare themselves for the choir’s latest show at the All Souls Anglican Church in Salt Rock.

Formed by Heather Brandon at the request of the Durban Council back in 1966, the Durban Symphonic Choir has gone on to take part in many concerts of lighter music and has also built up a loyal following of music lovers.

The choir, thanks to its standard of music-making, has been highly acclaimed by leading figures within the industry, including the likes of Sir David Willcocks, a British coral conductor, organist, composer and music administrator who died at the age of 95 in September of 2015.

The Durban Symphonic Choir has also gone on to build a lasting relationship with the KwaZulu-Natal Philarmonic Orchestra who it frequently performs with.

Currently, the Durban Symphonic Choir is run under the direction of Ros Conrad who is continuously searching for ways to extend the choir’s repertoire and appeal to a wider audience in the hopes of developing young and fresh talent.

Scheduled to perform live at the All Souls Anglican Church on December 8 at 3pm, the Durban Symphonic Choir has in the past been known to captivate the audience with their marvelous renditions.

Tickets often sell out fast, so those interested in attending the performance are urged to get hold of tickets fast in order to avoid disappointment.

All proceeds from the Durban Symphonic Choir go to The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund and The Nkobongo Resource Centre.

North Coast Courier Orphan Fund fundraising coordinator, Jane Armstrong said that she is very excited to have the Durban Symphonic Choir in town and that both The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund and The Nkobongo Resource Centre will be able to benefit from funds raised through the show.

Tickets are priced at R80 per adult, and R40 per child.
