Shakashead Martial Arts Club received a trophy for winning the second most gold medals by a team at the 2014 KZN open Taekwando Championship.
The tournament was held at Tongaat Sport Centre on November 29.
Twenty fighters from the club took part and nine came back with gold medals, five with silver medals and three with bronze medals. These excellent results placed them second overall in the tournament, just behind winners Budo Marital Arts from Stanger.
Trainer Lucky Ndlovu said that he was happy with the way his students performed.
“Special thanks must go to my trainer, master Vladimir Grachev, as we would not have achieved this without him,” said Ndlovu.
The club trains at the Shakashead Community Hall on Mondays to Fridays from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
“Our doors are open to any one who wishes to join us,” said Ndlovu.
