Rhythm and grace

Local girl representing KZN in gymnastics.

An inspirational young rhythmic gymnast from Tongaat recently represented KZN in the 2014 South African Gymnastics Games returned with gold under her belt.

The games were held in Good Hope Centre in Cape Town in October.

Nikhishah Ramesh, a 12-year-old pupil from Northlands Primary School has been training with the Bluff Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy since she was five years old.

This dedicated and tenacious gymnast earned her KZN colours five years in a row since 2010.

She achieved third place overall at the National Games in Durban in 2013.

With this result she also got a silver for clubs and a bronze for dance.

This year she bagged the gold for hoop, silver for ball and silver for clubs, securing the gold medal and champion in the level six U13 division.

Ramesh now heads off to Namibia, where she will compete in the Zone VI International Games in December.

To get to Namibia and compete she needs some financial help. If you want to help please email rhythmicgymnastics@hotmail.com.
