Footy Soccer

Sports day hosted in Melville and Groutville.

The Footy and African Bank Sports Development programme partnered with the KwaDukuza Municipality, Manyosi Bro’s, Lifestyle Spar and Enduduzweni to host a sports day for the youth of the Melville and Groutville on December 19.

The day saw children between the ages of eight and 14 years take each other on in chess, netball and soccer. The communities came out in full force to support the youngsters who loved being at the centre of attention on the sports field for a day.

The tournament was played in high spirits and everyone had loads of fun.

Shakaville won two out of the three age groups in the soccer tournament, with Groutville taking the honours in the under 12’s.

The Groutville Flyers won the netball tournament while Siyanda proved he had the superior strategy in winning the chess competition.

Thanks to all the sponsors for making this day possible and it proved again that by working together we can offer the less fortunate the opportunities that they deserve on the sports field.

We will be hosting three more sports days in the school holidays to keep the kids motivated and off the streets – Nkobongo, Shakaville and Shakashead.

Footy is open for social games throughout the holiday – if you keen for a run, give us a shout.

Have a blessed week.
