Local martial arts students shine
Annual competition prepare students for the upcoming world cup.
The Ballito Martial Arts Master Academy held their open national competition in the Tongaat Sports Centre at the end of last year.
This competition is held annually to prepare students for the upcoming world cup.
A national qualification event will be held early in 2015 to select students to represent South Africa.
This year GTF Taekwondo will be held in New York and Hapkido in Korea.
Students who excelled were Conrad Naison, Theo Mtolo, Kevin Petry, Jared Bass, Paul Johnston, Jabulani Mthembu, Angie Erofeen and Dominique Buck who won gold medals in sparring.
Joshan Moodley, Happiness Mtolo and Kelly Burmeister achieved bronze and silver medals in sparring while Daniel Grachev and Jack Maidman stood out in patterns black belt.
