On the road

A number of the Dolphin Coast Striders (DCS) participated in the Kearsney Striders half marathon and 10km race last Sunday.

Despite the course being a challenging one with some monster hills, Andrew Erasmus ran a fantastic time of 1:24, while Shannon Clark placed third in the masters devision in a time of 1:37.

The rest of us had a solid run and greatly enjoyed the morning out. The invitation is open to all runners to join us in experiencing these fanatastic runs in and around KZN.

Also competing on Sunday was Ben Kilian, Mathys Olivier and Scott Duncan (former DCS chairman) in the KZN triathlon champs.

Wednesday time trial results:

Top five places in the 4km race: Sibu (14:12), Mfanafuthi (16:23), Sipho (16:41), Thando (17:01) and Juan (17:08).

Top lady for the 4km: Delia (19:48).

8km: Shayen (35:41), Sam and Jono Wang pushed by Tryg (45:19) and Ben (45:23).

Walkers: Marlene and John (39:00) and Ray, Rob and Dave (40:00).

The highlights of the time trial were Sibu cleaning up the field in a great time of 14:12 and Tryg’s effort to push both his boys round the circuit in their running pram.

You can join the enthusiastic bunch of DCS runners by becoming part of the club for R350 for single membership or R600 for a family with children under 16. Licenses are R100 for adults and R60 for juniors. Pop down to the club on any of the following dates to collect your licenses and pay your subs:

Thursday, January 22 – 6-8pm, Saturday, January 24 7.30 – 9.30am or Wednesday, January 28 at the time trails.
