The Ballito Dolphins junior season will kick off with an open day at Salt Rock country club on Friday February 20.
The idea is to give junior players and their parents a chance to meet the coaches, enjoy a run-around as well as a friendly bring and braai afterwards.
Junior club chairman, Mark Svenningsen said the success of any club lies with the junior section.
“Three years ago the Ballito Dolphins had the second largest junior section in KZN. We are working hard to rebuild this club from the bottom up.”
He said it is possible for school boys to play school and club rugby as the two calendars do not clash and kids who only play club rugby can achieve full provincial colours through the club system.
“The junior club leagues age determination works the same as the school system, starting from U6 and going right up to U18.
Accredited KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Union coaches may coach at any junior level,” said Svenningsen.
The Ballito Dolphins are looking for a parent for each of their junior age groups to volunteer to be the team manager.
Those who are interested can contact Svenningsen at juniorchairman@ballitodolphinsrugby.co.za or Sue at info@ballitodolphinsrugby.co.za.
